Supporting emotional & psychological well-being
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and psychotherapist trained in psychodynamic therapy. I have recently completed the advanced training MSc programme at Birkbeck, one of the UK’s leading training institutes in psychodynamic therapy.
I currently work for South Bucks Counselling, a charity in High Wycombe which provides low-cost counselling to the local community, serving people with a wide variety of mental health needs. People are either self-referred or referred to the service by their GP as part of NHS primary care.
I have worked as a volunteer at The Listening Place, a charity which provides a listening service to those in crisis and at risk of suicide. Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a carer to the elderly in social care, often attending to their emotional as well as physical needs.
I have experience in treating a variety of psychological problems ranging from unease and lack of vitality to protracted suffering and diagnosable conditions. I support individuals in making sense of what is troubling them so that they can find their own way to alter their experience of life. I have a particular interest in supporting people with emotional distress which can give rise to depression, stress, anxiety, relationship and somatic problems.
My practice is non-discriminatory, with respect for the individual, their experience, and values. The nature of the support offered is in-depth counselling and long-term psychotherapy for adults.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Birkbeck Counselling Association (BCA). As such, I abide by the ethical codes of practice of these organisations.
I am fully insured, have ongoing clinical psychotherapy, supervision, and regularly attend training to enhance my knowledge, professionalism, and continuing professional development (CPD).
